Estes Park Trip With Steve
: :
Steve had the day off today, so we decided to visit our favorite mountain tourist spot, Estes Park. Our objective was to purchase a t-shirt from one of the many touristy shirt shops. Sadly, our favorite shop had gone out of business, so we were forced to walk the strip in search of food. To our chagrin, Ed's Cantina had been totally revamped. There wasn't a trace of the character of Ed's from yesteryear. It was too depressing for us to eat there, so we ventured on and found a wonderful burger joint called Penelope's. Steve had the 1/2 lb. burger w/ fries, and I had the 1/4 burger with onion rings. We were now ready to play mini-golf!

Luckily, I still had the free game coupon that I won last year for holing out the challenging 19th. This year was much different than last year. I managed to get a 2 on the 5th hole again, but it wasn't nearly as epic. You can tell by the expression on my face that this year's 5th was somewhat anticlimactic.

Steve really came into his own this round. He consistently beat me, hole after hole. The win was never in question. He also continued the 19th hole legacy by draining the putt. Maybe next year the tables will turn again?

The wildflowers were in full bloom this year. I think it has to do with all of the moisture we've gotten. Here's a sample.

I snapped this shot while waiting for Steve during his visit to the ranger station latrine. He claimed he was at an 8 (out of 10) on the scale of how badly he had to go. Poor guy.
