The "A-team" With Our Verto Sponsors

[From Left] Anat Angel, Ph.D. (Naiot Incubator, Verto), Me (MBA, A-team), Jason Lettman (MBA, A-team), Matthew Comstock (Dual Degree, MBA/Public Health, A-team), Shay Dubi (Naiot Incubator, Verto), Ben Potter (JD/MBA, A-team), Christie Clark (MBA, A-team), Jason Godley (MBA, A-team).

The MAP program is one of the highlights of the MBA program here at the Ross School of Business. MAP (M.ultidisciplinary A.ction P.roject) is part of RSB's unique and profound, action based learning curriculum. The concept is fairly simple. Student teams are connected with companies all over the world to work collaboratively on real-world business issues. The breadth of projects offered ranges from working with international companies (IMAPs), to entrepreneurial companies (EMAP), to Fortune 500 companies located domestically.

When I was trying to decide between MAPs, I was torn between the international experience that comes from an IMAP and the entrepreneurial experience of an EMAP. In the end, I was fortunate enough to be afforded both.

I am working with a small Israeli startup company called Verto Medical, Inc. Our team is developing a business plan with the goal of helping the company secure venture funding to continue clinical trials of its flagship product - an innovative medical device treatment for lupus.

Last week our team met representatives from the company in Prague, Czech Republic. The purpose of our trip was to reach an agreement with the company about the scope of the work that we will be engaged in over the next several weeks.

The trip was a success. Our team identified the components of the business plan that we will be delivering at the end of the project, and we also had a great time connecting with our sponsoring company. Just as important, we had a fantastic time as a team. We spent a lot of time together, working through hard issues, getting to know one another better, and learning how to work in a rapid and dynamic team-based environment.

We'll be off to Germany on April 1st to interview medical experts across the country.

First Dinner In Prague

Christie, Jason, and me waiting on large dishes of Czech goodness.

Platters

The best, and largest, dinner we saw in Prague.

Confusion

Ben and me looking confused. Maybe it was the platters that did us in.

A-team Adopts Teammate

Me and Bec Bailey. The A-team adopted her since her team got lost somewhere in Prague.

Shots On Ice

These things we were really cool - literally. They were shot glasses made out of ice. Shoot, then crunch. Delicious.
