Scuba Certified In The Bahamas
: :
Spring Break 2005 is officially over and Jason and I are now officially PADI Scuba Certified. The Bahamas treated us well. We got lots of sun, surf, seafood, and suds. The Miami Vice is our new favorite cocktail.

We arrived back in cold and gloomy Ann Arbor on Saturday, and we are now gearing up for the Czech Republic IMAP project with Verto Medical. Our flight leaves this Friday.

Here are some highlights from Spring Break 2005 - The Bahamas Trip:

Divers Down

Jason, our instructor Neal, and me after our 4th and final certification dive. The first dive of the day was intense. The dive site, termed the "Bahama Mama" consists of a 70ft descent with Carribbean Reef Shark looming below; then over to the edge of the "Tongue of the Ocean" - a wall which disappears some 6000ft into blue oblivion; then to the "Bahama Mama" wreck (a party cruiser that was sunk in 1995) where we did our certification techniques. It was an intense dive for only our third of 4 certification dives. Notice our instructor, Neal, donning the Michigan shorts. He didn't even know we were students.

These pictures were taken by another diver who dove the same site we did. Those giant gray fish with teeth are the Carribean Reef sharks. Snap snap.

Fish Fried

Tom, Jason, Me, and Chad at the Fish Fry where we enjoyed fresh Conch Fritters, Snapper and Grouper Fingers. Notice the pile of empty conch shells to our right.

Ferry-going

Me, Chad and Tom taking the ferry to Paradise Island from mainland Nassau.
