Big news in the world of technology. My old roommate and friend from Boulder, Stan James has been developing some software as part of his Master's thesis at the Univeristy of Osnabruck in Germany. His Master's thesis is entitled "Trusted Metadata Distribution Using Social Networks"... the software is called "Outfoxed". Basically, the software allows an individual to designate a trusted network of individuals that then become 'informants' of what's good and bad on the internet. It is one part social network and one part search. Instead of a search engine like Google telling the user what is relevant, Outfoxed allows the user to say "hey, I think I (with the help of my trusted friends) can figure it out on my own." Pretty cool. Obviously the implications are far-reaching.
At any rate, Stan has decided he wants to make a business out of it, and he has contacted me to potentially join him in the development of said business. I am pretty excited about the opportunity given that I am still in school and that I have tons of resources at my disposal to help develop the business model. We'll see where it goes from here.
